Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They are used to remember preferences and improve user experience. This policy also covers similar technologies such as browser local storage and session storage.

2. Analytics Cookies (consent required)

With your explicit consent, Plan EV Charge uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. GA4 sets the following cookies:

  • _ga — Distinguishes unique users. Expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_<ID> — Maintains session state. Expires after 2 years.

These cookies are only set after you accept our cookie consent banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are placed and Google Analytics does not load.

3. Local Storage & Session Storage

We use browser local storage and session storage (not cookies) for the following functional purposes:

  • cookie_consent — stores your cookie consent choice ("accepted" or "declined"). Required for remembering your preference. Persists until cleared.
  • planevcharge_token — stores your authentication token (JWT) when logged in. Required for account features. Persists until you log out or clear browser data.
  • i18nextLng — stores your detected language preference. Persists until cleared.
  • Prediction cache (session storage) — temporarily caches prediction data during your browsing session to improve performance. Automatically cleared when you close your browser tab.

This data is never sent to any external tracking or advertising service. It remains entirely on your device and is used only to provide core application functionality.

4. First-Party Analytics

Independently of your cookie consent choice, Plan EV Charge collects anonymised page view and interaction events (page path, language, event type) on our own servers. No cookies are set, no personally identifiable information is collected, and this data is not shared with any third party. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the service (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

5. Third-Party Cookies & Scripts

Google Fonts, which we use for typography, may set cookies or collect technical data when loading font files. Google Analytics, when consented to, sets cookies as described in section 2.

Google reCAPTCHA v3 is loaded on authentication pages (login, registration, password reset) to protect against automated abuse. reCAPTCHA may set cookies and collect interaction data to generate a risk score.

All Google services are subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Managing Your Consent

You can change your analytics consent choice at any time:

  • Clear the cookie_consent entry from your browser's local storage (via Developer Tools → Application → Local Storage)
  • On your next visit, the consent banner will reappear and you can make a new choice
  • You can also block cookies entirely through your browser settings

Disabling cookies and clearing local storage will not affect the core calculator functionality, but account features (login persistence) will require re-authentication.
